Inside Omega

Just six months after Omega Houston moved into their new offices, they are ready to deliver services to the largest tenant in the office tower that also bears its name – Cobalt International Energy. Cobalt International Energy will be utilizing Pims and Omega expertise to help manage the development of the giant Cameia oil field off the Angolan coast

“Cobalt is an up-and-coming company that in record time has developed a highly attractive resource base in the US Gulf of Mexico and West Africa. We are truly excited to be selected by Cobalt to help manage their projects using our project management systems and services,” says President of Omega in Houston, Øyvind Vik.

"Cobalt is an up-and-coming company in the American oil industry that we look forward to following in the years to come," says Vice President of Consulting Services Omega Houston, Mark navbar-brand and President of Omega Houston, Øyvind Vik.

“When selecting our provider we were looking for a world-class, proven, flexible project management system and someone who shares our commitment to operating in a safe, ethical and environmentally-responsible manner. Our choice was Omega,” says Chief Information Officer (CIO), Tim Clark, of Cobalt International Energy.

In addition to deploying the Pims R4 software, Cobalt is also looking to leverage Omega’s position as a global provider of project personnel to staff their projects with senior project professionals.

“Cobalt has leveraged some of the best and brightest professionals from some of the world’s leading oil and energy companies to lead their project development plans. Even though Cobalt is smaller by most standards today, their success in finding oil in Angola, coupled with a recent large find in the Gulf of Mexico, means they have a very promising future,” says Vice President of Consulting Services Omega Houston, Mark navbar-brand.

“That’s why it’s especially exciting for us to be involved at such an early stage in their corporate development. They do not want to grow into a massive organization, but rather want to supplement their core team with the right mix of consultants. Looking 10 years ahead with Cobalt, we have a very solid company in the making.“

Founded in 2005, Cobalt International Energy operates as an independent, oil-focused exploration and production company that focuses on the deep-water of the United States Gulf of Mexico, and offshore Angola and Gabon in West Africa. The company has strategic relationships with TOTAL E&P USA, INC. and Sociedade Nacional de Combustíveis de Angola Empresa Pública. Cobalt International Energy has its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
