Inside Omega

First step with Ruter

IT consultants from Omega are ready to embark on assignments regarding Oslo's public transportation system; Omega IT Consultants was recently awarded a frame agreement with the administrative company, Ruter.

Department Managers, Kjetil Løvaas and Anita Kraft Sahlgaard, more than satisfied after the signing of the frame agreement with Ruter.

"This is the first step towards cooperation with Ruter," explains Department Manager, Anita Kraft Sahlgaard, in Omega ITC, who together with Kjetil Løvaas and Erlend Nedrelid lead the bid in its initial stages.

The agreement spans the period from the middle of April 2015 to the end of 2016, with two optional one-year-long extensions. The contract covers six specialized fields and Omega was one of five suppliers to receive an agreement regarding the delivery of information security.

"Ruter has awarded five frame agreements within each specialized field, and for every section of an agreement we have had to compete with the four other companies for delivery. This is when it becomes crucial to have the best team with the best offers; together with our partner, Combitech, I have high hopes that we will be able to go from this first step to an ongoing cooperation with Ruter," adds Sahlgaard.

"We will offer personnel within four position categories – all with a three-year education minimum as a basis; a junior consultant must have at least one year of experience; in the consultant category a minimum of three years of experience is required; and project leaders are required to have at least eight years of experience. To qualify for the role of partner, a minimum of twelve years experience is required," says Sahlgaard.

Tough competition

It is evident that Omega ITC is dealing with a transportation company of a high calibre.

"We will compete for every single consultant position against a couple of the country’s leading consultant companies within revision and assessment. We will also have to compete against the leading supplier of IT and information security in Northern Europe," says the proud Department Manager.

In the process of deciding which suppliers to award agreements to, technical and professional qualifications were prioritized, closely followed by price and commercial relationships.

Out of a total of 120 bids from 45 different companies, Ruter has chosen 20 suppliers – five within each competency field. Some companies have received agreements within several of the fields.

"Assignments with a total value of up to NOK 200 000 can be offered without a mini competition," according to Ruter.
